Workshops

Pathways provides training and workshops to better support the use of data in school improvement. We can also work with your staff to develop standards-based items and assessments aligned with curriculum. We can help schools develop assessments and use their data at the classroom, department, school, and district levels.

Pathways Assessments Overview

Student data from assessments can be used in many different ways. This can range from the most evaluative (summative) to least evaluative (formative) of student's knowledge and skills. Depending on which assessment is used, a teacher's or student's role ranges in involvement and engagement.

Assessment options provided by Pathways include close-ended (i.e. multiple choice) and open-ended (i.e. performance) which can be administered either on-line or in a written scannable format.

Pathways Assessments Model:
assessments (12K)

DISTRICT/SCHOOL LEVEL:

  • SUMMATIVE: Highly evaluative of students common procedures taken when testing, and often used for school accountability (i.e. National Standardized test)
  • BENCHMARK: Evaluative of students, used to determine which students are/ are not meeting standards and often used for teacher accountability
  • INTERIM: Used for progress monitoring of students, often at a grade level or in a specific course or subject

CLASSROOM LEVEL:

  • SUMMATIVE: Point-in-time, in-class assessments that measure a predetermined set of learning targets in order to determine student mastery
  • FORMATIVE: An intentional process used by teachers and students during instruction that provides feedback to adjust ongoing teaching and learning to improve students' achievement
