Pathways provides training and workshops to better support the use of data in school improvement. We can also work with your staff to develop standards-based items and assessments aligned with curriculum. We can help schools develop assessments and use their data at the classroom, department, school, and district levels.

Professional Development

Introduction to Pathways’ Map for Success Workshop (4 hours)

The learning objectives for this workshop are:

  • Ensuring that school staff will understand the Pathways Model
  • Conducting a needs assessment of school/district strengths/needs
  • Helping staff to understand the prerequisite vocabulary and skills
  • Introducing school staff to instructional strategies
  • Setting important benchmarks that will occur during the year

The product for this workshop is a needs assessment and a timeline of the important benchmarks that will be implemented throughout the year.


Setting and Using Targets for Success (4 hours)

The learning objectives for this workshop are:

  • Setting learning targets based on standards, curriculum, and instruction for the school and students
  • Determining assessments that will be used to measure progress toward learning throughout the year
  • Using learning targets to measure success

The product of this workshop will be written learning targets and a plan for assessments that monitor and measuring success.


Creating Usable Data (4 hours)

The learning objectives for this workshop are:

  • Determining needs of participants in creating data
  • Providing all stakeholders with multiple tactics to analyze data
  • Understanding sequenced evidence-based learning strategies
  • Determine resource needs for implementing strategies

The product for this workshop is a needs assessment and a plan to use evidence based strategies throughout the year.


Introduction of Pathways Learning Group and Assessment Aligment Process (1 Content Area) (4 hours)
  • Introduce Pathways Learning Group and AAP project scope
  • Understand standards and how they are measured
  • Introduce the "Pathways AAP Smart Guide" and discuss the development of quality items
  • Discuss reports, results, and improvement strategies

Item Development for Assessments (1 Content Area) (4 hours)
  • Review of "Pathways AAP Smart Guide"
  • Review electronic template for assessment item development
  • Assessment correction exercise
  • Assessment practice exercise
  • Choose content for assessments
  • Begin writing items in template

Review Reports and Results; Strategies for Improvement (1 Content Area)

  • Review and understand reports and results
  • Identify areas of strength and weakness
